Experience the charm of storytelling as cyclists and adventurers share their most cherished moments on two wheels. From scenic rides through quiet countryside to unexpected encounters along the way, our speakers will take you on a journey that celebrates the simple joy of cycling.
Using the Pecha Kucha format, each storyteller will have a brief window to share their personal tales. Whether you’re a seasoned cyclist or someone curious about the world of bike adventures, this event offers an intimate look into the shared experiences and sense of togetherness that cycling brings.
Come and connect with like-minded individuals, gain new insights into the world of cycling, and leave with a renewed appreciation for the beauty of the open road. Join us for an evening of two-wheeled stories, where the love for cycling comes to life through the art of storytelling.

Group ride to vote together on Fiáin's birthday!
Date: October 14th, 2023
Time: 9am - 11am
Area: Karangahape Road
Location
Wish Cafe, K road
Cost
Free
Join us for coffee at Wish Cafe (my fav!) and a group ride along protected cycleways to vote together at the Greek Community and Orthodox Parish of Auckland!
We aren’t gonna talk about politics at this event so make your mind up on who to vote for before you come!
Children are welcome. Dogs are encouraged. There may be lots of waiting at the voting place (sorry!). Consider what you’ll do with the dogs and children while we wait. The dogs could all be piled onto Fiáin. This is a good and viable option. It would be a great birthday gift.
The rulez:
– no talking about which political party you are voting for
– no debating policies
– respect each other (pronouns etc)
– don’t be a party pooper (unless you’re a child. Then it’s allowed)
– bring a dog. If you don’t have a dog, steal someone else’s dog and bring it. Voting with Fiáin costs 1 dog.
The route:
Our route will go along Karangahape road, down East street to connect onto Ian McInnon Drive – and then we’ll follow the North Western cycleway the whole way there! Please be courteous to any pedestrians – ring your bell to say hello and give them lots of room when passing. Make sure you leave room for other people on bikes to pass as well.
How to vote:
You can register to vote and update your details online here – https://vote.nz/enrolling/enrol-or-update/enrol-or-update-online/?
Once you’ve registered to vote you’ll be sent an easy vote card in the mail. Bring it on the day – it helps!
Don’t worry, if you are late to register you can still do a “special vote” on election day. It’s just a bit of a more annoying process.
Anything else?
We might do something fun afterwards – I haven’t decided yet! Ideas welcome!
*My birthday is actually the day before on the 13th but y’know, same same

A clean and well lubed chain is one of the best ways to recreate that smooth ‘new bike’ ride feeling. Your chain and cassette naturally wear down overtime, give them some love and in return prolong their lifetime. Reduce waste, save dimes! Love your bike.
You’ll learn to clean, rinse, and dry your chain and cassette – using everyday household items! How to lubricate it and how often. We’ll share some general chain tips including how to put your chain back on when it slips off.
In this session we’ll also provide you with a short demo on puncture repair basics. You’ll see how to remove and refit a wheel, tyre and inner tube. You’ll learn to identify the puncture cause; patch an inner tube; and properly inflate your tyres.

Liberate the Lane at the Auckland Marathon – Friendly Protest 🏃♂️🚴♀️
Are you passionate about getting a dedicated lane on the harbour bridge for walking, running, cycling and wheeling? Do you believe in the power of community and friendly protests? Join us at the Auckland Marathon to show your support for opening a lane for climate-friendly transport on the bridge while cheering on the incredible marathon runners!
What’s the plan?
- We’ll gather near the marathon route, holding signs and banners advocating for a bike lane on the bridge.
- We’ll cheer for and encourage the dedicated marathon participants as they pass by, spreading positive energy and solidarity.
Why are we doing this? Opening a lane on the bridge for walking, cycling and wheeling is a win-win situation for our community. It closes a glaring gap in our transport network, makes our roads more inclusive for everyone, increases the resilience of our transport system, provides for accessibility and more affordable transport choices, and makes it easier for people to choose sustainable, healthy transport modes.
In the 2020 consultation 78% of the aucklander respondents supported walking and cycling, and in 2023 66% said they would walk or cycle across the Harbour.
At last year’s Auckland Marathon we held Liberate the Lane signs and rang our bike bells in support of the runners – and they cheered for us back. By participating in this friendly protest, we will continue to raise awareness about this glaring gap in our transport network, and show that Liberate the Lane has broad support
What to bring:
- Your enthusiasm and positive vibes!
- Homemade signs with messages painting our vision for walking, running, cycling and weeling access on the harbour bridge and why it matters.
- Cool drinks, snacks or breakfast and sunblock.
Important Notes:
- This is a peaceful and friendly protest. Respect and kindness towards all participants, including the marathon runners and law enforcement, are essential.
- Follow all traffic rules and guidelines while cycling or participating in the event.
Let’s come together as a community, show our support for sustainable transport, and have a fantastic time at the Auckland Marathon! Invite your friends and family to join this unique and positive event.
See you there!
