AT Update

Kia ora,

With more rain anticipated in Auckland over the next 48 hours, we’re expecting our roads and transport services to be under pressure, especially around peak travel times.

We’ve provided some additional updates as of today, Monday 30 January, that will impact how you move around.

Plan ahead, take care and drive to the conditions.

Our services are still running, but with some limitations due to the flooding. Check before you travel by visiting our news and events page and using our Journey Planner via our website or AT Mobile app.

We’re doing our best to keep Aucklanders moving and our thoughts are with those who’ve been impacted directly.

Auckland Harbour bridge – potential closure tomorrow evening

Red wind warnings have been put in place for Auckland Harbour Bridge the evening of Tuesday 31 January. This means there is the potential for a bridge or lane closure. Please keep this in mind if you are considering commuting across the bridge tomorrow.

Update on schools returning

The Ministry of Education have advised that schools will be closed until Tuesday 7 February. We recommend awaiting further information from your school or reaching out to them if needed.

Western Train Line – services will not run to Britomart

Due to a further slip on the Western Line, trains will not run into Britomart from tomorrow, Tuesday 31 January, until further notice. KiwiRail have teams in place working to secure the section of the line.

Trains will run  from Newmarket to New Lynn and New Lynn to Swanson. If passing through New Lynn station, you’ll need to change trains.

You’ll be able to use rail bus replacement services  between Newmarket and Britomart.

Road closures

Although our main bus routes are open, there are some roads that are still closed. Great North Road has only one lane open in each direction which will impact travel time.

If you’re driving, we recommend you avoid the following roads:

  • Mill Flat Road
  • Tahekeroa Road
  • Ahuroa Road
  • Great North Road (Waterview)
  • College Road/Victoria Street/Beaumont Street
  • Shoal Bay Road (GBI)
  • Scenic Drive
  • Glenvar Road
  • Wiri Station/Roscommon Road intersection
  • Otititori Road (Titirangi)
  • Sherwood Drive (Patumahoe)
More on road closures

Rising river and stream levels

Rising river and stream levels are now closing roads in Alfriston and Clevedon, along with Waiteitei Road in Wellsford. Scenic Drive suffered three large slips and there is managed access in place for residents.
