Off-peak fares set to become permanent – Annual Fare Change
Avoiding times when public transport is at its busiest has always been a good reason to travel off-peak, but now there’s an even bigger incentive. From Sunday 7 February, off-peak fares will become permanent on buses, trains, and ferries. This means trips taken using an AT HOP card off-peak will get you a 10% discount. Off-peak hours are: before 6am, between 9am and 3pm and after 6.30pm on weekdays, plus any time on weekends and public holidays. This offer excludes Skybus and Waiheke ferry services. Concessions will still apply on top of this discount.
This offer comes as part of the 2021 Annual Fare Change. The change will see an average fare increase of 4% across the board, between 20 and 50 cents for most customers. The fare increase will be used to help AT Metro recover after COVID-19 caused a significant drop in customer numbers and fare revenue. The fare change aims to encourage customers back on-board by providing good value for money while making sure there is enough budget to maintain and invest in new services.

New AirportLink makes getting to the airport much easier
On 24 January, we introduced two new bus services to improve public transport connections to Auckland Airport and to businesses around the airport.
The fully electric AirportLink service travels from Manukau Bus Station to the Airport via Papatoetoe and operates every 15 minutes. When the brand new Puhinui Interchange reopens later this year, the AirportLink will run every 10 minutes via the new station along a dedicated busway.
The Route 38 bus travels from Onehunga to the Airport, via Mangere, and operates every 30 minutes before 7am and every 15 minutes after 7am until the last trip.

New bus and ferry services introduced
Several new bus and ferry services have been introduced to meet customer demand and to connect developing suburbs. These new connections have been in action since 24 January and come as part of our efforts to extend the AT Metro network and reach more Aucklanders than ever before.
Twelve new ferry sailings have been introduced to run in peak hours for Hobsonville Point and West Harbour ferry customers. Ferry services have also been recommenced from Te Onewa/Northcote Point. A number of bus routes have been extended to reach developing suburbs, including Flat Bush and Karaka Lakes. The 171 to Laingholm now runs on Sundays and the 783 in the Eastern Bays now runs later into the evening.
AT is committed to reducing carbon emissions and has rolled out fleets of eco-friendly electric buses in Waiheke, the AirportLink (Manukau-Papatoetoe-Airport), and in the central city. Electric buses will eventually replace diesel buses completely across the network.

It’s events season, are you ready?
There are loads of events taking place in Auckland over the following months, and what better way to get to them than by bus, train, or ferry!
For most large events, including major sport matches and concerts, travel on trains and buses is included with your event ticket. This applies to the upcoming Blues Footy Fest at Eden Park on 20 February and Outerfields at Western Springs on 6 March. So, why not leave the driving to us and let us get you there safely.

Over the Christmas and New Year period a lot of work has been done by KiwiRail to replace and repair tracks across Auckland’s rail network. This work has been a major inconvenience to rail customers, but there is light at the end of the tunnel!
By the end of February, this project will be finished, lines will be open, and trains will be able to return to normal speeds. We thank you for your ongoing patience while this essential work has been progressed.

If you haven’t joined the thousands of Aucklanders already riding this February, it’s not too late to take part in this month’s Aotearoa Bike Challenge. The Bike Challenge is a fun, free, team competition where participants log their rides during the month and compete against other teams. It’s a great way to have fun and get fit while being in to win some awesome prizes along the way.

Secondary school students, aged 16 to 19, can now jump online and activate their student discount using their National Student Number (NSN). And with a student discount organised, they’ll be able to travel and get 40% or more off full price bus, ferry and train fares.

PRADA Cup Finals 13-24 February
The finalists are now confirmed, and Ineos Team UK and Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli will fight it out in the 36th America’s Cup Challenger Series finals. Roads will be busy around race viewing sites, especially if race course ‘C’ is chosen on race days. It’s easy to get to the Race Village, to Tamaki Drive, or to Devonport using buses, trains, and ferries, so leave the car at home and give it a go. Also, Use the AT Mobile app and don’t forget to get your Limited Edition 36th America’s Cup AT HOP card, available at all AT customer service centres, or online.
