Kia ora Brigid,

This month we're introducing a new bus service in West Auckland. Learn about our mission to make more of our bus fleet electric too.

There's also a chance to help us improve your experience when using your AT HOP card online.

And as always, we've got another beautiful piece of AT Māori architecture to showcase.

New bus services for West and Northwest Auckland are coming in November!

Introducing the WX1 Western Express

WX1 Western Express

On Sunday 12 November 2023, we’re transforming the bus network in West and Northwest Auckland so people can use buses to travel to more places more often.

The new network links a range of local bus routes with motorway services at Westgate and the new bus interchanges at Te Atatū and Lincoln.

At the heart of the network is the new WX1 Western Express connecting the Northwest Centre, Lincoln and Te Atatū Bus Interchanges, and the City Centre. During the day, buses will run every 10 minutes, seven days a week. This will be the quickest way to travel between the Northwest Centre and the City Centre using public transport.

New local bus routes are also being introduced, bringing frequent bus routes within walking distance for more people. Buses will run more often to ensure easier travel and better connections to trains and other bus services. Most buses will run later in the evenings too.

New Lynn goes Electric.

New Lynn goes Electric

Mission Electric has launched in West Auckland and all Route 24 buses are fully electric! The New Lynn bus depot is home to 43 new zero-emission electric buses that will service Route 24. This means Aucklanders taking the bus on Route 24 will experience these brand-new, quiet, and clean electric buses.

The depot itself has undergone work so that these awesome buses are charged up and ready to go, while not impacting the power grid in the area.

The Mission doesn’t stop here though, we now have 133 zero-emission buses in our fleet – with additional buses coming next year!

Help us improve the MyAT website experience

Making it easier to manage your AT HOP card

We know that in the past the experience of managing your AT HOP card (called MyAT) on our website hasn’t been as simple as it could be.

We’ve taken on board your feedback and are preparing substantial changes to this section of our website to make MyAT as easy and intuitive as possible.

Finding things in this new system will be much easier, but before we go ahead, we want you to try it.

We’ve put together a quick test that will ask you to navigate to some of the content and see if you can find what you expect, where you expect.

Waiheke - Tiaki Tīkapa Moana

Showcasing Māori architecture across Tāmaki Makaurau

Mana toi ora

This serene bus shelter, found on Waiheke Island, is a perfect spot to pause and reflect.

Figures on the face of the shelter acknowledge the kaitiaki of Ngāti Paoa over the surrounding landscape.

Whatu ngarongaro te tāngata, toitū te whenua.
People will pass but the land will remain.

Living on an island means that whatever we put down our stormwater drains, eventually ends up in the sea that surrounds us.

These bus shelter designs remind us of the richness, yet fragility of marine life and all that resides around our coastlines so that we may be more conscious about what we allow to end up in the ocean.
