Kia ora Brigid,

Share your thoughts on our proposals for public transport

We’ve been listening to Aucklanders and have developed proposals to improve the public transport system over the next 8 years.

To get to this point we’ve heard from over 2,000 Aucklanders and held several workshops with key interest groups. Some of the key issues raised have been:

RPTP consultation

“Fix the current issues due to driver shortages and cancellations”

“Provide more frequent services”

“Speed up travel times”

“Make fares more affordable”

“Create a low carbon public transport system”

We have developed proposals to respond to each of these issues and others. Check them out, read the full Regional Public Transport Plan, and have your say.

Short on time? You can still share your thoughts on public transport by completing the general question in our online survey.

Public feedback is open until 17 August.

Katoa, Ka Ora – the plan for safe speeds around all schools by 2027

Give your feedback now, open until 28 August 2023

Katoa, Ka Ora

Katoa, Ka Ora means everyone alive, healthy, and well.

Katoa, Ka Ora is the draft Speed Management Plan for Auckland 2024-27. This plan proposes to set safe and appropriate speed limits on approximately 24% of the roads across Auckland, mainly around schools.

Lower speed limits would make neighbourhoods safer for families and help parents feel safer letting their kids walk or bike to school by themselves.

We want to hear your views on the draft plan.

Puhinui Train Station Māori mahi toi

Showcasing Māori architecture across Tāmaki Makaurau

Mana Toi - Puhinui

Puhinui Station is a major bus and train interchange with Māori mahi toi (artwork) woven into the architecture, inspired by the history and pūrākau (stories) of the local area.

The roof of Puhinui Station unfolds into a feather-like form that protects all those who travel beneath. A lift inside the station has artwork of kaitiaki (guardian) cloaked in tuna which cast blue-green shadows onto the floor, giving an underwater feel.

Patterns on the lights surrounding the station represent the many species of tuna that live in Puhinui awa (river) and are a reminder of our responsibility to protect and restore the mauri (life force/essence) of this ancient waterway.

Puhinui awa runs from Tōtara Heights in Manurewa and flows through to the historic pā of Matukutūreia (McLaughlins Mountain) and the resource-rich waters of Te Mānuka (The Manukau Harbour).

Next time you're passing through Puhinui Station, take a look at all the unique Māori mahi toi.
