It was great to meet many local residents and business owners at the July and August Eastern Busway community information sessions. We chatted about the proposed busway, walking, cycling and playground facilities, and construction programme.
Your valuable comments have been grouped into main themes and are being reviewed by the project team to help refine the busway design and construction process. A summary report will be available here shortly.

There is interest in the timeline and sequencing of construction
|
Put the timeline on our website, and will give regular written updates to our neighbours
|
There is some concern about construction causing disruption to personal journeys and daily life
|

Upcoming work from Pakuranga to Ti Rakau Drive BridgeStarting from September 2022, work will take place to prepare for the busway to be built.
Early works will include:
- The staged removal and demolition of Auckland Council owned houses and commercial buildings. That will create space for busway construction. Where it’s possible, houses will be relocated and materials will be salvaged for re-use. Property tenants are being provided with support while they find new accommodation.
- Site clearance, which will involve some tree removal
- Temporary security fencing and security monitoring installed around vacant properties before removal or deconstruction
- Temporary fencing installed as a safety measure around properties that border the construction area
- The set-up of a fenced site laydown area where we will store construction materials, vehicles, a small excavator, and tools.
Construction of the William Roberts Road extension is expected to start in early 2023 based on consent approvals.
