Improving parks and playgroundsWe're working closely with the local community and Auckland Council to redesign the playground in Tī Rākau Park.
A mana whenua artist is incorporating mahi toi / cultural art and an unused area of the park will be transformed into a vibrant youth space, complete with seating and a 3-on-3 basketball court.
The existing playground will be dismantled and donated to GreensceneNZ, a local landscape design company partnering with Saint Kentigern College in Pakūranga. Together, they refurbish and install playgrounds in schools and communities across the Bay of Plenty, Eastern Cape and the Pacific Islands.

Roadwork updates – here’s what’s happening
- The lanes on Pakūranga Road will return to their regular layout in the next few weeks when underground stormwater improvements have been completed.
- Cortina Place will be closed on Sunday 18 February from 4pm to 1am for asphalt sealing if the weather’s fine.
- The South Eastern Highway citybound from Tī Rākau Drive will be closed on Sunday 18 February from 10pm to 4am while traffic islands are removed and semi-permanent concrete barriers are installed. This work is weather dependent.
Our closest neighbours might be interested to read more about work in progress and detours. Check the construction page on our website.

Embrace change for greater benefitsAs we pave the way for new transport connections in East Auckland including the Eastern Busway, additional cycle routes and walkways, some adjustments to your travel routes are inevitable.
Changes to routes will be clearly marked along Tī Rākau Drive, William Roberts Road, Palm Avenue, and other streets between Pakūranga and Botany. We appreciate your patience and urge you to take extra care when passing through the project area.
Thank you for your ongoing support as we work towards a more connected and accessible future for East Auckland.
