AT shines bright at United Nations Climate Change Conference

AT's zero-emission bus fleet will be showcased in a virtual exhibition at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 26) in Glasgow this month. The COP 26 summit improves the global efforts of countries all over the world to play their part in limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees.

As part of our zero emissions roadmap, by October 2022 AT will have introduced 71 zero-emission buses into its fleet.

Keep an eye out for the latest electric bus to hit Auckland’s streets

With support from Waka Kotahi and Mercury Energy, we are trialling a new electric bus model on our network. This three axel electric bus is the latest model being explored, and will make its way across different parts of the city over the next two years.

Under the sponsorship deal with Mercury Energy to support the operational costs of the trial, Mercury have wrapped the bus to lift the profile of sustainability aspects of the bus and to ensure the bus stands out as it gets put through its paces.

NZ Bus's fleet grow a mo this Movember!

NZ Bus with the support of Media Works NZ, have decorated their fleet of buses with moustaches to raise awareness for Movember. As the leading men’s charity focusing on mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer; it’s a charity that NZ Bus and Auckland Transport are proud to get behind.

NZ Bus Chief Executive Officer Barry Hinkley says “As a large business employing nearly 1,600 staff across New Zealand (87% male), it is important for NZ Bus to put its support behind Movember, and for all our staff to have a bit of fun along the way.”

NZ Bus have challenged their staff to raise $10k worth of donations during the month of Movember, with NZ Bus matching their donations - together raising $20K!

City rail link is taking shape

We have reached some extensive milestones in the City Rail Link (CRL) construction. The mechanical star of the project, the Dame Whina Cooper tunnel boring machine (TBM), began its excavation journey from the Mt Eden Station site in May. Last month the TMB broke through to the Karangahape station. This signifies the completion of a quarter of its total underground journey.

Another CRL milestone achieved in October was the official completion of one of the earliest CRL contracts, Contract 1 in Britomart. As part of the contract, the project handed back to Auckland a fully restored CPO building and replaced the traffic-congested lower Queen Street with the people-friendly civic square known as Te Komititanga. CRL is going to transform rail transport in Auckland.
