Puhinui Station

Puhinui Station is back in business

After being closed for upgrades since September 2019, we’re excited to announce that the new and improved Puhinui Station is back in business. The station was officially opened on Saturday 24 July, with the first services departing from the station on Monday 26 July.

Puhinui Station is an architectural landmark. It includes mahi-toi (artwork) by Wāhi Wairua and the use of te reo Māori throughout – thanks to a partnership with mana whenua – with Te Ākitai Waiohua providing design leadership.

There are public toilets that use recycled storm water for flushing, drop-off zones and short-term parking bays; along with new and larger platform shelters, an AT HOP card gateline, improved safety, lighting and CCTV. The station also include increased shelter for passengers moving between bus and train services, and improved facilities and access for cyclists and pedestrians.

Services departing from this station

Midweek train services will soon be returning to a 10 minute frequency during peak times. And with 15 brand new electric trains rolling out across our network there will be lots of room onboard.

The AirportLink bus has a direct connection from Puhinui Station to Auckland Airport, with a 10-12 minute travel time along dedicated bus lane, costing just $2.20.

You can travel from Britomart to Auckland Airport, via Puhinui, in 45 minutes for the price of a flat white ($5.40), with a 30 minute travel time from Papakura to the airport costing just $3.90.
