Kia Ora,

Spring has sprung, and what better way to celebrate than with World Car Free Day and a fancy riding event you're invited to this Sunday. You also have the chance to have your say on proposed cycling and walking facilities for Henderson.

Go Carefree – Go Car Free

It’s that time of year again – World Car Free Day! Make sure to get out there by foot, scooter, or bike on Thursday 22 September, so we can see for ourselves how wonderful our city could be with fewer cars on the road.

If you go by bike on Thursday, remember to log your ride on the Aotearoa Bike Challenge website and you’ll go into a prize draw to win $500 to spend at your local bike shop. You’ll also be helping to measure the impact of World Car Free Day.

Feeling fancy? We have just the ride for you

You’re invited to celebrate women and the joy of cycling

This Sunday 18 September, head down to The Cloud at 2pm for the Auckland Fancy Women Bike Ride.

For the last 10 years in cities like Vancouver, New York, London, Paris, Berlin and Istanbul, women have been coming together to celebrate this event. Now it's Auckland’s turn.

By dressing fancy, fierce, fabulous, and riding together on a short (and flat!) 5km route, this movement is all about bringing women together to challenge the perception that cycling is a male-dominated activity.

And why ‘fancy’ you may be thinking? You don’t need special or expensive gear to ride, wearing everyday clothes and showing up as your bright and bold selves is just as fun.

Everyone is welcome to join – see you this Sunday!

Tell us what you think: new cycling and walking design for Henderson

Have your say - Henderson cycle path consultation

Did you know that a third of all car trips in NZ are less than 2km? That's cycling or walking distance!

We’re proposing to install new cycling and walking facilities in Henderson to make it easier to do just that.

This will improve safety for people on bikes and scooters, and create better travel options and connections to public transport.

We'd love your input. Feedback closes on 7 October.
