Kia Ora,

Don’t miss this great chance to discover all things eBikes and eScooters. Find out how to attend this weekend’s eBike Expo below – we’ve got a limited number of free tickets available!

Queen St path has opened so it’s the perfect time to head into the city and check it out if you haven’t already. Learn about how the new path works too.

We recently celebrated the opening of Ngā Hau Māngere Bridge. Waka Kotahi now needs to add anti-slip coating to the bridge – very important with all the rain we’ve been having! The bridge will be temporarily closed next week, and you’ll be able to cross using the underpass.

Queen Street is better than ever

Walk, ride, or scoot the new Waihorotiu path

What’s happening on Queen Street?
The footpath space has been expanded, giving more space for people walking, biking, and scootering. A new shared path, the Waihorotiu path, has been created.

Where is the Waihorotiu path?
This shared path runs between the original footpath and the road. It starts at Aotea Square and goes all the way to Shortland Street. At the Civic Theatre it crosses from the western side of Queen Street to the eastern side.

Where do I walk?
If you’re looking in shop windows or having a leisurely stroll, the best place to walk is on the original footpath, closest to the shop.
If you’re walking fast you can use the Waihorotiu path. Remember to keep left. When you’re getting on and off the bus or crossing the street you’ll cross the Waihorotiu path, so look out for people on bikes and scooters using the path.

Where do I bike or scooter?
Use the Waihorotiu path if you’re going at a gentle pace. Remember to keep left and give way to people getting on and off buses and crossing the path. Use the road if you’re comfortable riding there and you want to go faster.

Ngā Hau Māngere Bridge temporarily closed next week

Permanent anti-slip deck coating to be added

Ngā Hau Māngere Bridge

Ngā Hau Mangere will be closed (weather dependant) from 10am Monday 28 November to 7pm Friday 9 December.

This is so Waka Kotahi can complete work on the bridge that couldn't be done during construction due to the weather, including the application of a permanent anti-slip deck surfacing. They'll do their best to complete the works as quickly as possible, which may allow the bridge to be re-opened sooner.

During this time, you’ll still be able to cross the Manukau Harbour via the SH20 underpass which will have security on duty.
